Alabama Shakes, Grammy-winning blues rock artists, are bringing their signature sounds to the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion!
The band was formed in Athens (Alabama) in 2009 and is composed of lead singer and guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, bassist Zac Cockrell, and drummer Steve Johnson. They were originally called the Shakes and the band's blend of fiery blues-rock and hard-hitting Southern soul draws parallels with the Black Keys, Drive-By Truckers, the Detroit Cobras, and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings. They started their career by performing at local bars and clubs for 2 years and released an eponymous debut EP in 2010. Their debut studio album (Boys and Girls) came out in 2012 and hit #6 on the US Billboard 200 and #3 on the UK Albums charts. It’s been certified Gold and earned three Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist and Best Rock Performance (for its single "Hold On"). Their 2016 album (Sound and Color) won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album and its single (Don’t Wanna Fight) won 2 Grammy Awards for Best Rock Performance and for Best Rock Song.
Don’t miss your chance to see these artists blend blues and southern rock with soul music to create something extraordinary!
