Sensational new wave and alternative rock artists Blondie and Garbage are bringing their signature sounds to the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion!
Garbage was formed in Madison (Wisconsin) in 1993 and consists of Scottish musician Shirley Manson (vocals, keyboards, guitar) and American musicians Duke Erikson (bass, guitar, keyboards), Steve Marker (guitar, keyboards), and Butch Vig (drums, percussion). All four members are experienced songwriters, music producers and the the idea for the band came when Butch, Duke, and Steve held an informal jam session in Steve’s basement. They decided they needed a female vocalist who didn't have a high, chirpy, girly quality to her voice. They eventually recruited Shirley Manson (ex-vocalist of bands Angelfish and Goodbye Mr. MacKenzie). Their musical style is that of pop-like songs with a variety of genres blended in. These genres include trip hop, grunge, 1980s rock music, techno, power pop, shoegazing, and Steve is renowned for saying the band wanted to “take pop music and make it as horrible sounding as we can.” The cite Roxy Music, The Pretenders, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Curve, Cocteau Twins, Patti Smith, and David Bowie as they’re influences and their debut album was an unexpected smash hit. It hit #20 on the US Billboard 200 chart, sold over 4 million copies worldwide, and has been certified double Platinum in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
Don’t miss your chance to see the chart-topping rock group of the 90s that blended slick, shimmering electronic pop with Shirley Manson's emotive vocals!
