Father John Misty (birth name Joshua Michael Tillman) was born in Rockville in 1981 and began his musical journey learning drums and guitar at a young age. He cites Nick Drake, Pete Seeger, and the writings of Flannery O'Connor as his key influences and he made a name for himself playing drums in a pair of indie rock bands, Saxon Shore and Stately. He’s had a stellar solo career as well, releasing 10 studio albums, 7 EPs, 6 singles, and has appeared on other artists’ tracks. He’s also been a guest on renowned talk shows such as The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and the Late Show with David Letterman. His second studio album (I Love You, Honeybear) received widespread acclaim from critics and was ranked as one of the best albums of 2015 by numerous publications.
