Spoon, Texas’ sensational indie rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion!
The band was formed in Austin in 1993 and currently consists of Britt Daniel (lead vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, and percussion), Jim Eno (drums, percussion, and programming), Rob Pope (bass, guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals), and Alex Fischel (keyboards, guitar, and backing vocals). Their musical style can be best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegazing), indie pop (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free), art rock (a subgenre of rock music that generally reflects a challenging or avant-garde approach to rock, and is often distinguished by the use of electronic effects and easy listening textures far removed from the propulsive rhythms of early rock), and experimental rock. They’ve had a stellar career with 9 studio albums, 4 extended plays, 26 singles, and their music has been featured on the soundtrack of the 2006 fantasy comedy-drama film, Stranger than Fiction.
