Sensational indie folk artists The Head and The Heart are bringing their signature sounds to the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion!
The Head and The Heart was formed in Seattle in 2009 by Josiah Johnson (vocals, guitar, percussion) and Jonathan Russell (vocals, guitar, percussion). The pair had met at a series open mic nights at the city’s Conor Byrne pub in Ballard and they went on to recruit Charity Rose Thielen (violin, banjo, vocals), Chris Zasche (bass), Kenny Hensley (piano), and Tyler Williams (drums) to complete the line-up. Their eponymous debut album was self-released and its success led to a record deal with Sub Pop Records in 2010. The label re-mastered and re-released their debut album and it hit #3 on the US Billboard Folk Albums chart. One of the album’s singles (Rivers and Roads) was featured in various TV shows such as NBC's, CBS's hit comedy How I Met Your Mother, and Fox's New Girl. The band toured relentlessly in 2010 and 2011 and opened for renowned acts like Vampire Weekend, The Walkmen, Dr. Dog, Dave Matthews, The Low Anthem, The Decemberists, Iron and Wine, My Morning Jacket, and Death Cab For Cutie. They released their second album (Let’s Be Still) in 2013 and their latest album (Signs of Light) came out in September 2016, peaking at #5 on the US Billboard 200 chart
